Why I'm Running
I'm running for the Nutley Board of Education because Nutley has given a great deal to me and my family, and I believe that comes with a responsibility to give something back.
I've had the privilege of serving on the Board before, and I've remained involved in our schools and our community since leaving it. That experience has reinforced my belief that strong schools require more than good intentions. They require responsible stewardship, accountability, long-term planning, independent judgment and a willingness to ask difficult questions.
I also believe a trustee has a responsibility to the entire community. Our first obligation is to the educational welfare of our students, but the school district belongs to all of Nutley — parents with children in our schools today, families who will enter them in the future, residents whose children have already graduated, and people who may never have children in the district.
Over the coming weeks, I'm going to use this page to answer some of the important questions I'm hearing from the community: what I believe the role of a trustee should be, what I learned from my previous service, how I think about school finances and affordability, our facilities and academic opportunities, and what I would do differently if voters give me the opportunity to serve again.
I look forward to the conversation.
